Building a party that survives in Ashfall Legion

March 14, 2026 · Mikkel Sørensen

Ashfall Legion punishes lazy party building. Early on we ran two damage dealers and no proper frontline, and every fight turned into a scramble. The fix was simple once it clicked: one solid tank, one healer, and two flexible slots you adjust per encounter.

Positioning is half the battle. The grid rewards keeping your healer tucked behind cover and forcing enemies to funnel toward your tank. We started every fight by looking at the terrain before moving anyone, and win rates jumped.

Companion choices matter more than the game admits. Losing an ally over a story decision cost us a key ability for two chapters. If you like a character's kit, weigh your dialogue choices carefully.

Don't hoard consumables. We ended the game with dozens of potions we never used, wasting fights that could have gone smoother. Spend them.

It's a demanding but fair RPG. Learn the systems and it opens right up.
